How we made $387k+ during the Black Friday of 2024

🧐 Context

In Q3-Q4 of 2024, I helped BridgeCom Systems achieved 5-6 figures of revenue by strategically optimizing their email marketing. From early preparation for Black Friday/Cyber Monday (BFCM) to retaining and upselling customers pre-BFCM, our approach ensured sustained growth throughout our work together.

1. Strategic list segmentation

We segmented the email list based on customer behavior, purchase history, and engagement levels, allowing us to send highly targeted messages that converted well during the high-traffic Q4 period.

👉 Result: Higher engagement and increased conversion rates as emails were more relevant to each segment.

2. Early preparation for BFCM

Months before Q4, we tested various offers, subject lines, and email designs to refine our approach. This groundwork ensured that our BFCM emails would perform optimally.

👉 Result: By the time BFCM arrived, we had a winning strategy that maximized sales opportunities.

3. Offer testing and optimizaiton

Leading up to Q4, we tested different offers—including discounts, bundles, and time-limited deals—to identify what resonated most with the audience.

👉 Result: Optimized offers drove higher sales without sacrificing margins.

4. Creating urgency with scarcity, timed offers

We used urgency tactics like countdown timers and limited stock alerts to encourage quick purchases during BFCM.

👉 Result: Increased conversion rates as customers were driven to act fast.

5. Personalized post-purchase campaigns

After customers made a purchase during BFCM, we sent follow-up emails with product recommendations and exclusive offers, encouraging them to buy again.

👉 Result: Boosted LTV as customers made additional purchases during the holiday season.

6. Leveraging ZPD for tailored messaging

Using customer-provided data, we personalized email content to match individual preferences, making the messages more relevant and engaging.

👉 Result: Higher engagement and sales as customers felt the emails were directly tailored to their needs.

7. Post-BFCM retention and upselling

After BFCM, we focused on retaining new customers and upselling to existing ones. We sent targeted emails featuring complementary products, exclusive discounts, and loyalty rewards, ensuring that the momentum from BFCM continued.

Results

The combination of these strategies led to significant growth during and after Q4:

  • Revenue Increase: An additional $387k+ was generated during the Black Friday month through optimized email marketing.
  • Conversion Rates: Email open rates and click-through rates saw double-digit percentage increases.
  • Customer Retention: Post-BFCM campaigns significantly improved customer retention, driving continued sales into the new year.
